Are You Using Facebook Stories in Your Marketing Plan?

Back in July Facebook announced that Ads were coming to Facebook Stories. Lakeland businesses can now access this ad placement option through Ad manager. Messenger Stories formerly called Messenger Day has 150 million daily active users. Facebook's new Stories ads will support all objectives currently available for Instagram Stories ads. To name a few reaches, brand awareness, video views, app install, conversion, traffic and lead generation are currently available. Facebook has been investing a good bit of time testing and working on all the details to make sure this new feature is perfect.

Mark Zuckerberg in Facebook's Q1 2018 commented:

"One of the interesting opportunities and challenges over the coming years will be making sure that ads are as good in Stories as they are in feeds. If we don't do this well, then as more sharing shifts to Stories, that could hurt our business."

Facebook released that this new feature is available for use.

"Now you can include Facebook Stories as an additional placement to News Feed or Instagram Stories ad campaigns, delivering your message in a fullscreen, immersive environment. And soon, you'll be able to extend the reach and improve the performance of your stories ad campaigns in Messenger too."

The Merge

Last November, Facebook announced combining the two platforms Facebook Stories & Messenger Stories. Even with the merger occurring Ad placement will remain separate. It was only a matter of time before Facebook merged the two into one place. From our understanding, Facebook is using this merger to encourage more use. Having separate versions could have played a role in the featuring not taking off. A recent study conducted by Ipsos discovered that 68% of people use stories on at least on three platforms. Many stated they would start accessing this feature more in the future.

68% of people say they use stories on at least three apps regularly, and 63% plan to use stories more in the future

38% of people said that after seeing a product or service in a story they talked to someone about it, and 34% said they went to a store to look for it

Team Facebook has stated that Stories are the future of social sharing. At the Facebook F8 conference Mark Zuckerberg said that "Stories are on track to overtake posts in Feed as the most common way that people share across all social apps". To increase users the new combined feature of Stories is available to Groups, Events, and Pages.Currently, Facebook states that combined Facebook and Messenger Stories have over 300 million daily active users.
